  • 250 mg for dogs weighing 4.5-10 kg;

Pharmacological properties

ATC vet QP53, ectoparasiticides, insecticides and repellents (QP53BX05 – ectoparasiticides for systemic use)

The active substance of the fluralaner preparation is a compound with acaricidal and insecticidal properties, active against ticks (Ixodes spp., Dermatocentor spp., Rhipicephalus sanguineus, Demodex spp., Sarcoptes spp., Ododectes spp.) And fleas (Ctenocephalides spp.) Fluralaner inhibits the activity of the nervous system of arthropods, acting as an antagonist in ligand-dependent chloride tubules (GABA and glutamate receptors).

Fluralaner does not cause the development of resistance in animals, which is possible with the use of other insectoacaricidal compounds. Even at sufficiently low concentrations, fluralaner inhibits the reproductive (oviposition) function of fleas.

After oral administration, fluralaner is rapidly absorbed, reaching its maximum plasma concentration within 24 hours. Feeding accelerates absorption. Fluralaner is distributed systemically and reaches its maximum concentration in adipose tissue and further in the liver, kidneys and muscles. Prolonged content, slow elimination from blood plasma (t 1/2 = 12 days) and the absence of active metabolism ensure the maintenance of an effective concentration of fluralaner in the interval between administration. Fluralaner has an intestinal effect on fleas and ticks, causing the death of fleas 8 hours after their attachment to the host’s body, ticks – after 12 hours. Fluralaner is excreted mainly in unchanged form by excrement (up to 90% of the dose), excretion by the kidneys is negligible.

Application

Prevention and treatment of dogs with ectoparasitic invasions. The drug provides long-term (up to 12 weeks) systemic insecticidal and acaricidal protection of animals at imaginal and juvenile stages of tick development (Ixodes ricinus, I. hexagonus, I. scapularis, I. holocyclus, Dermacentor reticulates, D. variabilis and 8 weeks from Rhipicephalus sanguineus ) and fleas (Ctenocephalides spp.). The drug protects the transmission of babesiosis (Babesia canis) by ticks (Dermacentor reticulates), killing ticks before the causative agent of babesiosis is transmitted to the dog. This was found 12 weeks after treatment.

Bravecto ® is used to treat dogs with Demodecosis caused by Demodex spp. Mites, as well as otodectosis and sarcoptic mange caused by Sarcoptes and Otodectes spp. under the supervision of a veterinary doctor. The effectiveness of Bravecto ® in these invasions has been proven in numerous clinical studies.

The drug causes the death of fleas 8 hours after they enter the host’s body, ticks – after 12 hours. Bravecto ® can be used in the complex therapy of flea allergic dermatitis.

Dosage

The tablets are given orally during or shortly before / after feeding. The fluralaner dose is 25-56 mg per kg of body weight.

Animal body weight, kg Dose of the drug, number of tablets per animal
Bravecto® 112.5 mg Bravecto® 250 mg Bravecto® 500 mg Bravecto® 1000 mg Bravecto® 1400 mg
2-4.5 one
> 4,5-10 one
> 10-20 one
> 20-40 one
> 40–56 one

Before the introduction of the drug, it is necessary to accurately determine the body weight of the animal by weighing.

Dogs weighing more than 56 kg should be given an appropriate combination of two tablets. Due to the flavoring contained in the tablets, the tablets are well eaten by dogs. If necessary, the tablet can be fed with food or placed on the root of the tongue. Make sure that the tablet is swallowed by animals. No breaking or splitting of tablets is allowed.

The drug Bravecto protects the animal from fleas and ticks for up to 12 weeks.

Contraindications

Individual hypersensitivity of animals to the active substance (fluralaner)!

Do not use the drug in puppies under 8 weeks of age and dogs weighing up to 2 kg!

Do not apply to animals at intervals of less than 8 weeks!

Warning

The drug can be used by animals during pregnancy and lactation.

Lethargy, muscle tremors, ataxia, and seizures are very rare in spontaneous messages. Most of the reported adverse reactions were of limited and transient effects.
