Drontal broad spectrum wormer for cats (pyrantel, praziquantel) 24 tablets
Description:
The tablets are white, ellipsoidal, yellowish at a break, divided by a strip into two equal parts.
Compound:
One tablet (339 mg) contains:
- pyrantel embonate -230 mg,
- praziquantel -20 mg.
Pharmachologic effect:
ATC vet QP52A, anti-trematous, anti-nematode and anti-cestosis veterinary drugs.
Drontal is a broad-spectrum anthelmintic agent that contains the active ingredients praziquantel, a pyrazinisoquinolone derivative, and pyrantela embonate, a tetrahydropyrimidine derivative.
Praziquantel is rapidly absorbed by the outer shell of tapeworms, after which its damage and contraction occurs. The consequence of a violation of the penetrating properties of membranes is paralysis of parasites.
Pyrantel acts as a cholinergic antagonist, inducing spastic paralysis of roundworms by depolarizing neuromuscular blockade.
Indications for use:
Deworming of cats with nematodes and cestodes: Tohosaga cati (syn.mystax), Ancylostoma sp., Dipylidium caninum, Hydatigera (Taenia) taeniaeformis, Mesocestoides sp., Echinococcus multilocularis, Joyeuxiella pasqualeiella pasqualei
Dosage:
The drug is administered orally once, tablets can be administered directly inside (per os) or in crushed form with meat or sausage, without following a fasting diet in a dose of 1 tablet per 4 kilogram of animal weight
(equivalent to 5 mg parasiquantel and 57.5 mg pyrantel embonate per kilogram):

Do not use on kittens weighing up to 1 kg.
The drug can be used in kittens from 3 weeks of age.
It is recommended to deworm animals once a quarter.
It is recommended to deworm kittens against roundworms (ascaris) twice with an interval of 14 days, 2-3 weeks after weaning.
Contraindications:
Do not use on animals during pregnancy.
