The composition of the drug

The drug contains as active ingredients: hydrocortisone aceponate – 1.11 mg, gentamicin (sulfate form) – 1505 IU, miconazole (nitrate form) – 15.1 mg; and auxiliary component: paraffin up to 1 ml.

Pharmacological properties

The complex of three active ingredients provides both antibiotic and antifungal action, as well as action to relieve inflammation and itching that accompany otitis, thanks to gentamicin (in the form of sulfate), miconazole (in the form of nitrate), and hydrocortisone aceponate, respectively.

Hydrocortisone has a powerful anti-inflammatory effect. It inhibits the activity of various tissue-destroying enzymes – proteases and nucleases, matrix metalloproteinases, hyaluronidase, phospholipase, etc., inhibits the synthesis of prostaglandins, kinins, leukotrienes, and leukotrienes. It also reduces the permeability of tissue barriers and vascular walls, inhibits the exudation into the site of inflammation of fluid and protein, the migration of leukocytes into the site (chemotaxis), and proliferation of connective tissue in the center, stabilizes cell membranes, inhibits oxidation of oxidative oxidation. and many other processes that play a role in the implementation of inflammation. Also has a powerful anti-allergic effect.

Gentamicin actively penetrates the cell membrane of bacteria, inhibits the synthesis of the protein of the pathogen. Has high activity against aerobic gram-negative bacteria: Escherichia coli, Shigella spp., Salmonella spp., Enterobacter spp., Klebsiella spp., Serratia spp., Proteus spp., Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Acinetobacter spp. Also active against aerobic cocci: Staphylococcus spp. (Including resistant to penicillins and other antibiotics), some strains of Streptococcus spp. The fungicidal effect of miconazole is associated with impaired synthesis of ergosterol – a component of the cell membrane of the fungus. Miconazole binds to individual links in the chain of ergosterol biosynthesis, which causes the fungistatic effect of the drug. The products of the broken biosynthetic chain are embedded in the cell membrane of fungi, which damages its integrity.

Indication

Easotic is ​​prescribed for the treatment of otitis externa in dogs caused by mixed infections (bacterial and fungal), including Malassezia pachydermatis, Staphylococcus pseudointermedius.

Doses and method of application

Pre-clean the pet’s ear from sulfur, mechanical contaminants, and crusts. This can be done with a cotton swab dipped in a small amount of ear cleaner.

Before the first use, press the pump 2 times to fill the cannula with the full dose of the drug. Insert the cannula into the external auditory canal of the damaged ear and apply 1 ml of suspension. The suspension is injected into the ear once a day for 5 days.

The presence of gentamicin in the composition of Izotik in the shortest possible time brings relief to the pet, eliminating pain and itching, as well as reducing swelling of the affected area.

Side effects

With proper use and dosage, side effects are usually not observed.

Contraindication

Do not use in dogs with perforation of the eardrum. Do not use in dogs with hypersensitivity to the active substances of the drug.

Special instructions

Concomitant use with potentially ototoxic drugs should be avoided. Use caution in dogs with impaired liver and kidney function.

Storage conditions

In a dry place, protected from direct sunlight, out of reach of children and animals, separately from food and feed at a temperature of 0 to 30 ° C. Shelf life in a closed package of the manufacturer – 24 months from the date of manufacture. The shelf life of the opened package is 10 days after the first use.
