Ingredients
Pimobendan.
PimoPet 5 mg 100 tab. for dogs with heart failure – is an analogue of Vetmedin and Kardishur (the active ingredient is pimobendan).
1.General information
In appearance, the drug PimoPet is a flat-cylindrical tablet with beveled edges of a reddish color with a slight specific odor, with a cruciform groove.
One 320 mg tablet contains: 5.0 mg pimobendan and excipients.
PimoPet is packaged in 100 tablets in plastic jars with first opening control.
It is necessary to store at temperatures from 0 ° C to + 25 ° C and relative humidity no more than 75%.
The shelf life of the drug in a closed container is 36 months from the date of manufacture, subject to storage conditions.
2.Pharmacological properties
The pharmacological properties of the drug PimoPet are due to the active ingredient – pimobendan, which is part of its composition. Penobendan, a benzimidazole derivative, belongs to non-steroidal cardiotonic drugs. The drug partially inhibits phosphodiesterase III and at the same time increases the sensitivity of myofibrils of the heart to calcium ions. Pinobendan not only enhances the contractile function of the myocardium, but also provides arterial vasodilation.
The drug is excreted from the body mainly through the liver.
3. Purpose and procedure for using the drug
PimoPet is prescribed to dogs for the treatment of cardiovascular collapse caused by dilated cardiomyopathy or valve insufficiency (mitral and / or tricuspid valve regurgitation) with characteristic symptoms such as cough, shortness of breath, decreased exercise tolerance, or ascites.
The recommended dosage of the drug is 0.5 mg of active ingredient per 1 kg of body weight. The daily dose is divided into 2 doses, which corresponds to 1 tablet in the morning and 1 tablet in the evening for 20 kg of live weight. The width of the therapeutic dose can range from 0.2 mg to 0.6 mg per 1 kg of body weight, divided into two doses per day, daily. PimoPet is administered orally, approximately one hour before feeding. The drug can also be administered in combination with a diuretic such as furosemide or torasemide. In the case of decompensated heart failure, the recommended lifelong long-term therapy with PimoPet. The maintenance dosage should be selected individually, by a veterinarian, depending on the severity of the disease.
4. Side effects.
In rare cases, there is a slight positive chronotropic effect, as well as vomiting. These effects are observed only in case of drug overdose and can be prevented by reducing the dose.
5. Contraindications.
Hypersensitivity to the active ingredient – pimobendan. The drug should not be used for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and diseases in which an increase in cardiac output cannot be achieved for functional or anatomical reasons (for example, with stenosis of the aortic opening).
PimoPet is not used in dogs with severe hepatic impairment, puppies under 6 months old, pregnant or lactating bitches, dogs with congenital heart disease, diabetes mellitus and other serious metabolic diseases.
The package contains 100 tablets for dividing.
