Cladaxxa 50 mg, (amoxicillin, clavulanic acid) for Dogs and Cats, 10 tablets (Synulox analog)
Composition and form of release
Cladaxxa tablets 50 mg are round pink tablets with a dividing groove on one side and the inscription “Cladaxxa” on the other side. Each Cladaxxa 50 mg tablet contains 40 mg of amoxicillin in the form of amoxicillin trihydrate and 10 mg of clavulanic acid in the form of sodium clavulanate. Produced in packs of 10 in foil strips, which are put into cardboard boxes.
Amoxicillin is a semisynthetic broad-spectrum penicillin that has a rapid bactericidal effect on many gram-positive (Streptococcus spp., Staphylococcus spp., Corynebacterium spp.) And gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli, Salmonella, Bordetella bronchiseptica, Proteteus spp.) including b-lactamase-producing strains. Resistance to b-lactam antibacterial drugs is usually due to the ability of microorganisms to produce b-lactamase, an enzyme that destroys the b-lactam ring of an antibiotic before it can act on a bacterial cell. Clavulanic acid, which is part of Cladaxxa, inactivates b-lactamase and thereby restores the sensitivity of the bacteria to the bactericidal action of amoxicillin in concentrations
Prescribed to dogs and cats for the treatment of infections of bacterial etiology: diseases of the skin and soft tissues (abscesses, pyoderma, inflammation of the paranal glands, gingivitis, stomatitis, etc.), respiratory diseases, diseases of the genitourinary system and enteritis.
Doses and method of administration
Cladaxxa tablets 50 mg are administered to sick animals directly into the mouth or crumbled together with feed at a dose of 12.5 mg per 1 kg of animal weight (for example, if an animal weighs 3-5 kg, 1 tablet of Cladaxxa 50 mg is given, if an animal weighs 14-18 kg – 4 tablets of Cladaxxa 50 mg) 2 times a day for 5-7 days. If the disease is difficult to treat, especially with respiratory infections, you can increase the dose of Cladaxxa by 2 times (up to 25 mg per 1 kg of animal weight) twice a day or shorten the intervals between drug administration. In the case of chronic or intractable diseases, often accompanied by significant tissue damage, a longer course of Cladaxxa therapy is recommended: the duration of treatment for chronic skin diseases and chronic cystitis is 10-28 days, for respiratory diseases – 8-10 days.
Allergic reactions are possible in hypersensitive animals. With proper use and dosage, side effects are not observed.
Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug. Cladaxxa, like other antibiotics of the penicillin series, is not allowed to be prescribed to rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, and gerbils. The drug should be used with great caution in other small herbivores.
No special precautions are taken. The use of the drug is not indicated for pseudomonous infection. Cladaxxa 50 mg tablets can be used as an alternative to injectable antibiotics in the treatment of small animals.
