Combikel 40, Suspension for injection
Composition:
1 ml of the drug contains the active ingredient: benzylpenicillin procaine 200,000 IU, dihydrostreptomycin sulfate 200 mg. Excipients: procaine hydrochloride, sodium formaldehyde sulfoxylate, sodium citrate, sodium methyl parahydroxybenzoate, Providon, water for injection.

Pharmacological properties:
ATC vet classification code QJ01 – antibacterial veterinary drugs for systemic use. Benzylpenicillin procaine, when administered intramuscularly, is well absorbed and quickly creates therapeutic concentrations in the blood in the amount of 1-2 μg / ml in sheep, pigs, and 0.5 μg / ml in cattle, already 2 hours after injection. After administration, the drug penetrates well into the lungs, kidneys, liver, poorly penetrates the myocardium, brain, bones, synovial and cerebrospinal fluid. It is excreted from the body unchanged by the kidneys (60-80%), as well as with bile, saliva, milk. With parenteral administration, the bacteriostatic concentration of dihydrostreptomycin in the blood was studied, formed after 15-30 minutes and reaches a maximum after 1-2 hours. At a therapeutic concentration (15 μg / ml), the antibiotic is contained in the blood for 8-12 hours.
Animal species:
Cattle, horses, pigs, sheep, goats, dogs and cats.
Indications for use:
Treatment of animals suffering from the following diseases: otitis media, peritonitis, mastitis, meningitis, leptospirosis, actinomycosis, erysipelas, myt, actinobacillosis, polyarthritis, septicemia, as well as respiratory diseases (bronchopneumonia, rhinitis, laringitis, pasteurellosis (pyonephritis) and the urinary system nephritis, endometritis), skin and soft tissues caused by microorganisms sensitive to benzylpenicillin and dihydrostreptomycin.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to penicillins and dihydrostreptomycin. Do not use on animals with impaired renal function. Do not use intravenously.
Side effect:
Cases of short-term skin rash, edema, fever, vomiting, trembling, anxiety and impaired coordination, anaphylactic shock, abortion in pigs are possible. Some small and short-term reactions in the city of injection are possible.
Interaction with other means and other forms of interaction:
Benzylpenicillin can be used with sulfamides and salicylic acid esters. Do not use concomitantly with tetracyclines or other aminoglycosides. Dihydrostreptomycin enhances the action of neuromuscular blocking drugs such as general anesthetics.
Dosage:
Intramuscularly or subcutaneously (small animals) at a dose:
adult horses, cattle, pigs – 10 ml of the drug per 200 kg of animal body weight once a day;
calves, sheep, goats – 5 ml of the drug per 50 kg of animal body weight once a day;
pigs, dogs, cats – 0.5 ml of the drug per 5 kg of animal body weight once a day.
The course of treatment is for cattle – 2-4 days, pigs – 1-4 days, sheep and goats – 3-5 days, dogs – 1-7 days, cats – 2-5 days.
Withdrawal period:
Slaughter of animals for meat is allowed 30 days after the last use of the drug. The consumption of milk for human consumption is allowed 4 days after the last use of the drug. Depending on the conclusion of the veterinary doctor, meat and milk are fed to unproductive animals or disposed of until the specified time.
