Description:

Suspension, white with a yellowish tinge, which stratifies during storage.

Structure:

1 ml of the drug contains the active ingredient:

medroxyprogesterone acetate – 50 mg;

Excipients: methyl parahydroxybenzoate, propyl parahydroxybenzoate, sodium chloride, polysorbate 80, polyethylene oxide 1500, water for injection.

Pharmacological properties:

Medroxyprogesterone acetate is a synthetic progestogen that has a longer lasting effect than natural progesterone. Medroxyprogesterone acetate affects the hypothalamic-pituitary system by blocking the secretion of gonadotropic hormones (FSH and LH) from the adenohypophysis. A decrease in the level of gonadotropic hormones in the blood leads to a violation of folliculogenesis in females, as a result of which ovulation of the follicles is inhibited and fertilization does not occur.

Application:

For long-term prevention or interruption of estrus in cats and bitches and prevention of unwanted pregnancies; treatment of imaginary pregnancy and pseudolactation of bitches; treatment of feline nymphomania.

Dosage:

The drug is administered once subcutaneously at the withers or intramuscularly at the thigh in doses:

a) for the treatment of imaginary pregnancy and pseudolactation:

bitches weighing up to 10 kg 0.5 ml of the drug,

from 10 to 20 kg 1 ml,

more than 40 kg 3 ml.

b) to prevent the onset of estrus 5-10 days before its appearance, to interrupt it within 1-2 days after the first signs appear (change in behavior, the onset of mucous discharge mixed with blood, attractiveness to people of the opposite sex):

bitches weighing 2-5 kg ​​- 1-1.5 ml of the drug;

5-10 kg 1.5-2 ml; 10-20 kg 2-3 ml;

20 – 30 kg 3-4 ml;

30-40 kg 4-5 ml;

more than 40 kg 5-6 ml;

for cats weighing up to 3 kg 0.5 ml of the drug, more than 3 kg 1-2 ml.

c) in the treatment of feline nymphomania, 0.5-1 ml of the drug.

For a one-time prevention of estrus, the drug is administered to bitches once no later than a month before the expected estrus, and to cats immediately after the next estrus.

For long-term prevention of estrus, the drug is administered 5-10 days before the onset of estrus, repeated for females after 5-6 months, for cats after 4-6 months. In the event that the bitches to whom the drug was injected show signs of sexual arousal, it is necessary to make an extraordinary injection of the drug.

For Siamese cats, the dosage of the drug is determined individually by the veterinarian.

Shake the contents of the vial thoroughly before use until a homogeneous suspension is obtained.

Contraindications:

Diseases of the genital organs (pyometritis, metritis, endometritis, etc.), organs of the urinary system.

Keeping bitches and cats in order to obtain offspring.

Breast tumors treated with other estrogens and progestogens.

Sexual immaturity.

Pregnancy, lactation and estrus.

Hypersensitivity to the drug.

Caveats:

Do not apply to animals before the first estrus.

Do not administer the drug in the postoperative period.

Not recommended for greyhound bitches.

In some cases, suppression of estrus may be permanent.

In bitches and cats, after administration of the drug, the ability to fertilize for 10 days can remain.

After stopping the use of the drug, it is recommended to mate the animals after the second estrus.

Vials of 2, 5, 20 ml, closed with a rubber stopper for aluminum rolling, enclosed in a cardboard box.

Storage:

A dry, dark place, inaccessible to children, for temperatures from 5 to 25 ° C.

Expiration date:  2 years. After the first selection from the vial, the drug should be used within 10 days, provided that it is stored in a dark place at a temperature of up to 8 ° C.
