Features of the
Medroxyprogesterone acetate is an analogue of natural progesterone.
Injected subcutaneously, it slowly dissolves from the injection site, ensuring the maintenance of a constant level in the blood.
With the subsequent action of medroxyprogesterone, the secretion of gonadotropic hormones is inhibited and, as a result, the development of ovarian follicles is delayed and there are no symptoms of estrus.
Indications
Prevention of estrus in bitches and cats.
Treatment of uterine bleeding, feline nymphomania and excessive sexual excitability in males.
Prevention of imaginary pregnancy in bitches.
Contraindications
Do not use:
- in the phase of prooestrus, oestrus, metoestrus,
- during pregnancy,
- in case of detected breast neoplasms,
- for immature and growing animals,
- for animals with diabetes,
- with inflammatory conditions of the birth canal.
Adverse Reactions
A side effect can be a change in the animal’s temperament, an increase in appetite, and the manifestation of lactation.
The use of the drug may be accompanied by an overgrowth of the endometrium.
The color of the skin and coat may change at the injection site.

Dosage and administration
Depogesterone is administered intramuscularly or subcutaneously.
The first injection of the drug can occur no earlier than 2 months after childbirth and no later than 1 month before the expected estrus. The next doses of the drug are administered to bitches every 5 months, and to cats every 3-4 months.
When preventing estrus (contraception) and treating:
Bitches 50-100 mg / animal subcutaneously or intramuscularly (small animals 1.0 ml; medium and large 1.5-2.0 ml) Cats 50 mg / animal subcutaneously (1.0 ml / animal)
Males 2-4 mg / kg bw subcutaneously or intramuscularly Males 2-4 mg / kg bw subcutaneously. Shake before use!
