Inflammation of the external ear canal is a common problem among small pets (10-20% in dogs and 2-6% in cats) and one of the leading reasons to see a veterinarian. Mitex is an ideal combination of three substances that act synergistically, providing powerful protection against otitis externa and localized skin infections. Polymyxin B and miconazole complement each other and effectively potentiate each other in their antimicrobial activity against the most important bacteria and yeasts involved in otitis externa: Staphylococcus pseudointermedius, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli and Malassezia pachy. Prednisolone, a synthetic corticosteroid, has a rapid anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, antiexudative and antiproliferative effect and quickly relieves the symptoms of inflammation without causing systemic side effects.
Mitex has also been shown to be effective against ear mites, thus focusing on another primary factor (cat-specific). With constant use, the parasites die quickly and the healing process is accelerated.
Product advantages:
– Miconazole: proven synergistic effect with Polymyxin B against gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus. Excellent activity against Malassezia and a wide range of antifungals.
– Ear mites: Mitex is approved for the treatment of otodectes cynotis.
