Description

Structure

1 ml of the drug contains the active ingredient: ofloxacin – 100.0 mg.

Pharmacological properties

The active ingredient of the drug is the antibiotic ofloxacin, an antibiotic of the fluoroquinolone group. Ofloxacin is active against gram-negative and gram-positive microorganisms, and especially against: Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp., Shigella spp., Enterobacter spp., Citrobacter spp., Klebsiella spp., Proteusspp., Serratia spp., Campylobacter spp., Pseudomonosa , Yersinia spp., Vibrio spp., Aeromonas spp., Haemophilus spp., Are also sensitive to the drug: Brucella spp., Chlamydia trachomatis, Staphylococcus spp., (Including penicillinase-producing and methicillin-resistant strains) Mycoplasma spp. and Mycobacterium spp. The mechanism of action of the drug consists in inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase (topoisomerase II), thus stopping the process of spiralization and DNA synthesis.

Application

Treatment in dogs and cats with septicemia, arthritis, polyarthritis, meningitis, mastitis, dermatitis, secondary infection with viral diseases, as well as respiratory diseases (tonsillitis, tracheitis, pneumonia, bronchitis, rhinitis, sinusitis, bronchopneumonia), digestive tract (gastritis , enteritis, peritonitis), genitourinary system (nephritis, pyelitis, pyelonephritis, urethritis, urocystitis), which are caused by microorganisms sensitive to ofloxacin.

Dosage

Intramuscularly at a dose of 0.25 ml of the drug per 10 kg of body weight. Apply the drug with an interval of 24 hours, the course of treatment is 3-5 days.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to ofloxacin. Do not administer to animals with impaired renal and hepatic function. Do not use simultaneously with tetracyclines, macrolides, lincosamides, chloramphenicol, as well as with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Do not use to heal horses. Do not use in small breed dogs under 8 months of age, large breed dogs under 18 months of age, cats under 8 months of age due to negative effects on bone formation. Do not treat animals with signs of central nervous system diseases.

Caveats

The drug is not recommended for animals during pregnancy. The use of the drug is allowed only if the effect of the application exceeds the possible negative consequences. At the injection site, swelling and painful reaction are possible. If these symptoms occur, the use is discontinued and desensitizing therapy is prescribed. If after the administration of the drug there is edema and a painful reaction, it is recommended to use the drug by the oral route in the same doses as with intramuscular administration, because the bioavailability of ofloxacin reaches 100%.
