Description
TRIMERATVET (Sulfadimidine and trimethoprim) water-soluble powder, 1000g
Description
White to grayish powder with a specific odor of the constituent components.
Composition
1 g of the drug contains the active substance :
– sulfadimidine – 100.0 mg ;
– trimethoprim – 20.0 mg .
Pharmacological properties
ATC vet classification code QJ01 – antibacterial veterinary drugs for systemic use. QJ01EW03 – combination of sulfonamides and trimethoprim. Sulfadimidine (sulfadimezine) and trimethoprim.
Trimeratinvet powder is a combined preparation, which includes sulfadimidine and trimethoprim. The effectiveness of the preparation is due to the action of the above components, which in combination exhibit a synergistic effect, as a result of which the activity of the preparation is significantly higher than the activity of the components taken separately.
Sulfadimidine and trimethoprim have a bacteriostatic effect on most gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms, including: Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Salmonella spp., E. coli, Pasteurella spp., Serpulina hyodysenteriae, Corynebacterium spp., Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae.
The mechanism of action is the sequential inhibition of enzymes involved in the synthesis of folic acid, thereby inhibiting the synthesis of thymidine in the bacterial cell. Sulfadimidine blocks the conversion of para-aminobenzoic acid to dihydrofolic acid, and trimethoprim blocks the conversion of dihydrofolic acid to tetrahydrofolic acid by inhibiting dihydrofolate reductase. Sulfadimidine and trimethoprim are well distributed in the body, penetrate the placenta. In inflammation of the meninges, the concentration can reach 50% of the concentration in the blood serum. Sulfadimidine and trimethoprim are excreted by the kidneys by glomerular filtration and tubular secretion, and are metabolized in the liver. Sulfadimidine is mainly acetylated and conjugated with glucuronic acid, trimethoprim is metabolized to oxide and hydroxyl metabolites.
Indications for use
Treatment of cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, dogs, cats and poultry (broiler chickens and replacement young stock) for diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, respiratory organs and genitourinary system, as well as complications after viral diseases, postoperative and post-traumatic infections caused by microorganisms sensitive to trimethoprim and sulfadimidine .

Stir until the drug is completely dissolved. For quick dissolution of the powder, use warm drinking water.
