Streptocide powder 100 g (streptocide, sulfanilamide)
Composition:
White streptocide, sulfanilamide – not less than 99%.
Pharmacological properties:
The mechanism of the antimicrobial action of streptocide is associated with its competitive antagonism with para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA). Due to its chemical affinity for PABA, the drug prevents its inclusion in dihydrofolic acid. In addition, it competitively inhibits dihydropteroate synthetase. Violation of the synthesis of dihydrofolic acid reduces the formation of tetrahydrofolic acid from it, which is necessary for the synthesis of purine and pyrimidine bases. As a result, the synthesis of nucleic acids is inhibited, as a result of which the growth and reproduction of microorganisms is suppressed.
The drug has an antimicrobial effect on streptococci, meningococci, pneumococci, Escherichia coli, the causative agent of gas gangrene and some other microorganisms, but is almost inactive against staphylococci.
Streptocid is rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, subcutaneous tissue and from the wound surface. Especially well absorbed from the small intestine, slightly worse – from the stomach and large intestine. When applied topically, it does not irritate tissues.
Application:
Streptocide is used for tonsillitis, streptococcal tonsillar abscesses, washing, bronchopneumonia, postpartum sepsis, cystitis, pyelitis, enterocolitis and other diseases, as well as for the prevention and treatment of wound infections.
Dosage and method of administration:
The drug is administered orally 4-6 times a day for 5-7 days in the following doses:
horses and cattle 5-10 g,
small ruminants and pigs 0.5-2 g,
dogs 0.5-1 g,
Arctic foxes and foxes 0.3-0.5 g.
Outwardly, streptocide is used to treat infected wounds, ulcers, burns in the form of a powder, suspension, liniment. Dressings are carried out in 1-2 days, since pus and tissue decay products reduce the therapeutic effect of streptocide.
Contraindications:
Diseases of the hematopoietic system, nephrosis and nephritis, hepatitis, general acidosis, hemolytic anemia.
Interaction with other medicinal products:
Streptocide is incompatible with novocaine, anesthesin, barbiturates and other drugs that easily split off sulfur.
Warning:
Slaughter of animals for meat is allowed no earlier than 5 days after the last use of the drug. Meat of animals that were forcedly killed before the expiration of the specified period can be used as feed for carnivores.
Milk obtained from animals treated with streptocide should not be used for food purposes within 3 days after the last administration of the drug.
Package:
Polymer cans of 500 g, laminated bags of 10 g.
Storage:
The drug is stored according to list B in the manufacturer’s packaging in a dry, dark room at a temperature of 0 ° C to 25 ° C.
Expiration date: 3 years from the date of manufacture.
