Ceftriaxone (ceftriaxone) powder for Injection
Description
Crystalline powder of almost white or yellowish color. Weakly hygroscopic.
Composition
1 bottle contains active ingredient:
sterile ceftriaxone sodium salt in terms of ceftriaxone – 1.0 g.
Pharmacological properties
Ceftriaxone is a third generation cephalosporin antibiotic for parenteral administration with a wide spectrum of antimicrobial action, high activity (especially against infections caused by penicillinase-producing microorganisms) and prolonged action. It has a bactericidal effect by inhibiting the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall.
Ceftriaxone acetylates membrane-bound transpeptidases, thus disrupting the cross-linking of peptidoglycans, which is necessary for the strength and rigidity of the cell wall. Ceftriaxone is active against gram-positive aerobes: Staphylococcus aureus (including strains producing penicillinase), Staphylococcus epidermidis, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus pyogenes, Streptococcus viridans; gram-negative aerobes: Enterobacter aerogenes, Enterobacter cloacae, Eschérіchia soI, Hemorhіlus traetae, Hemоhіlus rattAzhtae, Klebsіelа spp. (including K. pneumoniae), Moraxella catarrhalis, Morganella morganii, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, N. meningitidis, Proteus m ^ mMUs, Proteus vulgaris, Serratia spp. (including Serratia marcens), Acinetobacter calcoaceticus; Pero1terYusosst spp., Vasteroides fragilis, Сlostrіdіum spp. (except Сlostrіdіum difficile), Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Has activity in vitro against most strains of such microorganisms: Providensia spp., Vasteroids bivius, Vasteroids melaninogenicus, Salmonella spp. (including Salmonella turhi), Shigella spp., Streptococcus agalactiae, Providencia rettgeri, Citrobacter freundii.
Application
Treatment of dogs and cats with otitis media, sepsis, meningitis, as well as diseases of the respiratory and genitourinary system, skin and soft tissues, bones, which are caused by microorganisms sensitive to ceftriaxone. It is used to prevent postoperative complications.
Dosage
For intramuscular administration in dogs:
the contents of one bottle are dissolved in 3.6 ml of 1% lidocaine solution or 0.25% – 0.5% novocaine solution, or in 3.6 ml of sterile water for injection. 1 ml of the solution prepared in this way contains about 250 mg of ceftriaxone for a vial of 1.0 g.
For intramuscular injection in cats:
the contents of one bottle are dissolved in 3.6 ml of 0.25% – 0.5% novocaine solution or 3.6 ml of sterile water for injection. When used, cats should not dissolve the drug with lidocaine. 1 ml of the solution prepared in this way contains about 250 mg of ceftriaxone for a vial of 1.0 g.
For intravenous jet injection:
the contents of the vial are dissolved in 9.6 ml of sterile water for injection or 0.9% sodium chloride solution, or 5% glucose solution. 1 ml of the solution prepared in this way contains about 100 mg of ceftriaxone for a vial of 1.0 g.
or
the contents of the bottle are dissolved in 100-250 ml of 0.9% sodium chloride solution, or 5% glucose solution. The injection is carried out for 20-30 minutes (the rate of introduction is 60-80 drops per 1 minute).
The daily dose of the drug is 20-40 mg of ceftriaxone per 1 kg of body weight.
If necessary, the frequency of use can be increased up to 2 times a day with a dosage of 10-20 mg of ceftriaxone per 1 kg of body weight.
The drug is used from 5 to 10 days, depending on the form and severity of the disease.
